Announcing the 2001 casey medal winners.

The annual Casey Medals for Meritorious Journalism honor distinguished coverage of children and families in the U particularly the disadvantaged. The Casey Journalism Center forward Children and Families, a program of the Philip Merrill association of Journalism, has not past nor futureed the awards since 1994.

This year, 26 professional journalists judg various categories, evaluating entries for profundity and originality of subject, research and documentation, creative presentation and whether the note conveyed the complex issues that underlie stories of disadvantaged children and families.
